About the Course
This course is part of the Track 1: Well Site Supervisor Development Program. Well Site Supervisor Development Program - Track 1. The Well Construction Foundations Unit creates a broad awareness of the key roles and shared vocabulary associated with exploration and production through field abandonment in the oil and gas industry. It addresses the phases of drilling, completion, and well intervention. A total of 35 hours are included in this course with 25 hrs eLearning and 9 hrs virtual instructor-led sessions.
Target Audience
Designed for field supervisors and junior field supervisors who are being developed to be
well site supervisors; entry-level well site field personnel; experienced personnel who are
cross-training to move into a supervisory role and lead operations at the well site.

Course Content
Virtual Instructor Led Training
During three sessions spanning nine virtual training hours, participants will meet with the instructor to clarify the overall program objectives and adapt the unit content to the well types specific to each participant in their operating area. The template of the Back-to-Work plan is thoroughly vetted since half of the unit learning for all units is post-vILT for on-the-job context.
Back-to-Work Plan
Job-shadowing the primary safety leaders onsite, the drilling contractor tool pusher and the well site supervisor kicks off the program. It is enhanced with a rig audit to familiarize the participant with the 14+ major systems of drilling rigs, along with the key contractor personnel responsible for each system. Specific tasks to foster continuous learning/improvement and approachability are laid out. Reservoir engineering and geologic personnel from the company and/or the operator are A presentation recapping the learning and recommendations from each participant for this unit is made to a designee of the participant's manager.
