Our History

60+ Years of Experience

For over half a century PetroSkills has been delivering superior training solutions to the Oil & Gas Industry

1964

OGCI

In 1964, Alan P. Roberts and Thomas O. Allen delivered the first session of Production Operations 1. In the following decades, they turned Oil and Gas Consultants International (OGCI) into an industry leader in exploration and production technical training.

1968

John M. Campbell

In 1968, John M. Campbell started delivering Gas Conditioning and Processing - G4, widely referred to as The Campbell Gas Course®, and considered by many to be the industry standard for Gas Processing training. As demand grew, John M. Campbell & Company expanded to cover topics for the entire oil and gas production, processing, and midstream industry.

2001

PetroSkills Alliance

In 2001, the PetroSkills Alliance was founded by Shell, BP, and OGCI, with the mission of providing "important but not unique" competency-based training. Today, the Alliance is comprised of dozens of Member companies representing all facets of the global industry.

2014

RDC

In 2014, PetroSkills purchased Resource Development Company, LLC (RDC). RDC Solutions has a 50-year history of helping companies in the oil and gas industry meet compliance demands and withstand business challenges through a more knowledgeable workforce. RDC learning solutions - including knowledge transfer through e-learning, learning management, performance support, and compliance information management - are used in over 500 facilities worldwide.

2019

Simulation Solutions

In 2019, PetroSkills acquired the assets of Simulation Solutions, Inc. Their Hands On Training System contains a broad range of high fidelity process models and realistic DCS system emulations which have been integrated into a network based, fully automated training system that includes detailed training exercises, comprehensive on-line help, self and graded evaluations, and the recording of test scores and results.

Clients using this newly developed technology are able to deliver hands on training on shift and around the clock. Our automated system frees up available simulator Instructors for more coaching and advising, and/or allows for complete self-paced, self-study and practice. Immediately after taking a classroom or network based course on theory, operators can see this theory put into action through the use of our dynamic and realistic simulator training exercises.

2023

The Competency Alliance

To better serve the evolving industry and its customers, PetroSkills expands into The Competency Alliance, building on the methodology we used to become the Oil & Gas industry’s leading alliance and expanding it to the Net Zero and Renewable sectors.

The Competency Alliance is grouped to cover the three major energy sectors. As it has done for over 50 years, PetroSkills covers Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream oil and gas. NetZeroSkills includes Greenhouse Gas Management, Carbon Capture/Sequestration, and Hydrogen. RenewableSkills handles the Wind and Geothermal sectors.
