Wastewater Treatment: Testing and Troubleshooting
e-Learning
About the eLearning Course
This course will teach you testing methods, units of measurement and the methods of calculating the results of the tests for total solids, volatile solids, and suspended solids. The BOD5 test procedure is covered for general information and methodology. The course also covers the 30-minute sludge-settling test and calculation of the sludge volume index.
Target Audience
Operations personnel who require a fundamental understanding of knowledge to operate and maintain facilities. Also suitable for maintenance and technician personnel whether new to their roles or seasoned experts looking to enhance their skills. You Will Learn
Participants will learn how to:
- Describe the sampling process.
- Define the values for ppm and mg/l.
- Describe how to use and care for a dissolved oxygen probe.
- Describe how to test for total and volatile solids.
- Identify the procedure for testing for suspended solids.
- Identify the procedure for determining the BOD of wastewater.
- Describe how to determine how well the sludge will settle in the clarifier and calculate the settled sludge volume.
- Describe how to troubleshoot the process when the sludge does not settle well.
- Identify the causes of rising sludge and poorly settled sludge and how to troubleshoot these problems.
