About the eLearning Course

Office Safety is designed to help you meet the training requirements of HSE Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. You will learn guidelines for working safely and ergonomically to prevent hazards and injuries. You will also learn how to properly organize a computer workstation.

Target Audience

Operators, technicians, and other professionals who require knowledge to operate and maintain facilities safely and effectively.

You Will Learn

Participants will learn how to:

  • Describe the types of injuries that occur in an office.
  • Describe what you can do to ensure a safe office working environment.
  • Describe the safe work practices which help to ensure office safety.
  • Define ergonomics and provide examples of ergonomics-related injuries.
  • Define cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs) and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), including the injuries they cause.
  • Describe stress factors associated with the upper extremities.
  • Describe stress factors associated with the lower back.
  • Describe how to properly organize and assess a computer workstation to ensure it is ergonomically correct.
  • Define neutrality in the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and lower back.
  • Identify the proper support for the lower back, the seat, forearm, hands, and feet.
